Intracranial compliance and volumetry in patients with traumatic brain injury

چکیده
Background: Cerebral edema (CE) and intracranial hypertension (IHT) are complications of numerous neurological pathologies. However, the study CE noninvasive methods to predict IHT remains rudimentary. This aims identify in traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients relationship between volume lateral ventricles parameters pressure waveform (nICPW). Methods: is an analytical, descriptive, cross-sectional with nonsurgical TBI patients. The monitoring nICPW was performed a mechanical strain gauge, volumetry calculated using free 3D Slicer software, both during acute phase injury. linear model fixed random mixed effects Gamma used calculate influence (P2/P1 time-to-peak [TTP]) values on volumetry. Results: Considering only sample, there P = 0.727 (95% CI [−0.653; 0.364]) for P2/P1 [−1.657; 1.305]) TTP effects, 8.5e-10 [−0.759; 0.355]) [−2.001; 0.274]) Conclusion: present found association 1 st days after

Monitoring of Intracranial Pressure in Patients with Traumatic Brain Injury
Since Monro published his observations on the nature of the contents of the intracranial space in 1783, there has been investigation of the unique relationship between the contents of the skull and the intracranial pressure (ICP). This is particularly true following traumatic brain injury (TBI), where it is clear that elevated ICP due to the underlying pathological processes is associated with ...
متن کاملThe Effects of Estrogen Receptors' Antagonist on Brain Edema, Intracranial Pressure and Neurological Outcomes after Traumatic Brain Injury in Rat
Background: In previous studies, the neuroprotective effect of 17&beta-estradiol in diffuse traumatic brain injury has been shown. This study used ICI 182,780, a non-selective estrogen receptor antagonist, to test the hypothesis that the neuroprotective effect of 17&beta-estradiol in traumatic brain injury is mediated by the estrogen receptors. Methods: The ovariectomized rats were divided into...
متن کاملThe Effects of Shilajit on Brain Edema, Intracranial Pressure and Neurologic Outcomes following the Traumatic Brain Injury in Rat
Objective(s): Brain edema is one of the most serious causes of death within the first few days after trauma brain injury (TBI). In this study we have investigated the role of Shilajit on brain edema, blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability, intracranial pressure (ICP) and neurologic outcomes following brain trauma. Materials and Methods: Diffuse traumatic brain trauma was indu...
متن کاملDeep Vein Thrombosis, Pulmonary Embolism and Related Factors in Patients with Traumatic Brain Injury
Background and Objective:Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism are fatal problems following brain trauma that, if left untreated, can dramatically increase mortality. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and related factors in patients with traumatic brain injury. Materials and Methods:This cross-sectional study was performed on 38 patie...
